At Musicians Ltd, the magic of musical theatre extends far beyond the spotlight. During our latest annual production, Encore, which took place on the weekend of June 15th & 16th, the real enchantment was found backstage, where a vibrant mix of preparation, camaraderie, and fun brought the show to life!
Musicians Ltd.’s original show, Encore, told the story of “The Super Six,” six students who joined their school musical five years ago and formed lifelong bonds through their shared love of performance. In their final year of high school, they faced a crisis when the principal announced plans to cut the drama program to build another basketball court. The students rallied to save the drama program, showcasing that the arts teach essential life skills beyond singing, dancing, and acting. Featuring beloved numbers from musicals like Matilda, The Little Mermaid, Shrek, and Frozen 2, Encore explored themes of friendship, teamwork, and the profound impact of arts education on life skills!
Months of dedication culminated in Encore, with 60 students immersing themselves in rehearsals, character development, and stage dynamics. These rehearsals were not just about perfecting performances but also about fostering friendships. Backstage, the energy was electric. Our students formed a close-knit community, sharing last-minute pep talks and celebrating each successful scene change. This camaraderie created a supportive environment, making the experience memorable for everyone involved.
Tech rehearsals, often seen as tedious, were a source of unexpected fun and inside jokes. Whether it was a microphone mishap or a lighting cue going hilariously wrong, these moments lightened the mood and strengthened the bonds between cast and crew. As the curtain rose for Encore‘s debut performance, the backstage area was filled with excitement and anticipation. The teamwork and camaraderie that had developed over months of preparation were on full display. Our cast’s final bow brought a shared sense of accomplishment, highlighting the hard work and talent of our students.
